With Ralf Rangnick only appointed on an interim basis, Manchester United are reportedly in "secret talks" with one of their shortlisted managerial candidates.
Rangnick's short-term spell at the United helm is only expected to last until the end of the season before he takes up a consultancy role. It is understood that in his next role, the German boss will help oversee the appointment of a permanent manager, who will take over the reins in the 2022/23 season.

A report by Marca now claims that the Red Devils are in discreet talks with Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine coach is considered to be among the favourites to land the job but that Rangnick prefers Ajax Amsterdam boss Erik ten Hag, while Leicester City's Brendan Rodgers is also a candidate for the position.
United's interest in Pochettino became apparent back in November 2021 when the English side sacked then-manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, per Le Parisien.
However, in a pre-match press conference ahead of PSG's visit to Manchester City in the UEFA Champions League in November, Pochettino expressed that he would remain as the manager of the French giants despite the speculation surrounding his future at the time.

Nevertheless, the former Tottenham Hotspur boss is said to have more credibility in the eyes of the United board due to his Premier League experience.
Pochettino is reportedly tempted by the idea of returning to England, with his family said to be still living in London.
An exit from PSG could see him being replaced by former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, who is reportedly only eyeing that role as well as the France national team coach position.
