11 top stars who never won the Premier League

With Antonio Rudiger set to leave Chelsea at the end of the season having never won a league title in England, here are 10 other top stars who, perhaps surprisingly, never got their hands on the Premier League trophy.

On Sunday, Thomas Tuchel confirmed that the Germany defender will leave Stamford Bridge after talks over a contract extension for the player reached a deadlock. According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 29-year-old already has a verbal agreement to join Real Madrid.

The centre-back will depart the Blues having won five trophies, with the potential of a sixth when they face Liverpool in the FA Cup final in May. However, the Premier League title is not among the accolades he has claimed with the London club.

As such, Rudiger will join a star-studded list of great players who never got their hands on the EPL trophy, including former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard.

Despite playing 17 seasons in the English top flight and making 504 appearances in the competition for the Reds, the former England skipper completed his career having never lifted the famous silverware.

Gerrard's former teammate Robbie Keane, who played for the Merseysiders in the 2008/09 campaign but is better known for his time at Tottenham Hotspur, Leeds United and Inter Milan, also failed to win England's biggest accolade.

The Irishman spent 13 seasons in the Premier League, scoring 125 times in 349 EPL outings, but none of the sides he played for attained the biggest crown in England.

Current Spurs star Harry Kane has suffered the same fate so far, and at the beginning of this season, the striker wanted to leave the club in search of trophies, and tried to engineer a transfer to Manchester City.
