According to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg, the Citizens have paid Eintracht Frankfurt a fee of €75 million (around R1.4 billion), with an additional €5 million (R96 million) in bonuses.
It has further been suggested that the Premier League giants wanted to get the deal done before the side face Chelsea in a league encounter on Saturday, so that Marmoush could be included in the squad.
Last season, the Egyptian amassed 17 goals and six assists in 41 games across all competitions for the German outfit.
However, the attacker seems to have shifted into a higher gear during the current campaign, registering 20 goals and 14 assists in 26 games.
The Egypt international, speaking his new club's official website, expressed what joining the reigning Premier League champions meant to him.
It's a big, big honour and I'm really, really happy to be the first player to play for Manchester City [from Egypt], showing what my country has," Marmoush stated.
"Representing my country at a big club like this was something I always dreamed of. [Now] my dreams are becoming a reality of being [the first Egyptian] at Manchester City and I hope I can keep up this level.
"The Premier League is for us in Egypt the biggest league and the most followed league because of my team-mates like Mo Salah and other Egyptian players that have played in the Premier League.
"Most of the players growing up, our dream is to be here and that is why it makes me so happy that I am here to reach this beautiful league."
He joins the English club amid a tough period, with City currently fifth on the EPL table, 12 points away from leaders Liverpool after 22 matches.
Continentally, the Sky Blues find themselves 25th in the UEFA Champions League standings after suffering a 4-2 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain.

The Citizens will be hoping that the additions of Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Marmoush will help the side reinvigorate their campaign both domestically and continentally.
