Stellenbosch missed the chance to move up to third in the Betway Premiership standings after a 1-1 draw against TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.
Stellies made only change following their narrow loss against Marumo Gallants in the Carling Knockout, as Genino Palace was recalled to join Ashley Cupido and Andre de Jong upfront.
Galaxy, meanwhile, brought back Czechia goalkeeper Jiri Ciupa and were also boosted by the return of Mlungisi Mbunjana as two changes from their slender defeat against Magesi in the Carling Knockout.
Steve Barker's charges were quick off the blocks as Fawaaz Basadien fired them ahead within the first two minutes with a strike in the box after a through ball by Chumani Butsaka.
The Rockets were fired up and they were unfortunate not to level matters midway into the first stanza after Lindokuhle Mbatha's header in the box came off the crossbar.
However, the game was getting scrappy towards the end of the first stanza, as Stellies were happy to absorb the pressure and kept Sead Ramovic's troops at bay, as they went to the interval with a narrow lead.
The Cape Winelands outfit started the second stanza brightly as ten minutes later Devin Titus came close to doubling their lead with an effort that came off the upright.
TS Galaxy eventually got into the game and with 18 minutes to go, Nkosikhona Radebe pulled them level.
In the closing stages, the hosts had the fresh legs of Ibraheem Jabaar, who came on for Butsaka.
The Rockets, meanwhile, had the new energy of Puso Dithejane who came on for Mbatha.
However, neither side could find the decisive goal and the game ended all square.
Stellies remained in fourth place while the Mpumalanga side were also left rooted at the bottom of the log.
