After his sudden passing that shook the entire South African soccer industry, Bonginkosi Ntuli's funeral service commenced with the late Amazulu star receiving the appropriate send-off.

The former striker was laid to rest after passing away in a hospital in Pietermaritzburg following a transient battle with cancer over the weekend at the age of 32.

After players, clubs, coaches and fans alike paid tribute to Amazulu's fallen hero, his funeral services commenced at the African Congregational Church in Cliffdale, outer west Durban.

Of those who delivered speeches at the service were his father ,Thulani, his wife Sinenjabulo Zungu-Ntuli, and former Amazulu teammate Ramahlwe Mphahlele.

His father was devastated by the loss, saying that his family also lost "a breadwinner".

Meanwhile, his wife, with whom he tied the knot just earlier this year, said she was grateful for the time the pair got to spend together before his untimely demise.

"I'm grateful that we got to do the little that we did together in the nearly three years. You drove me insane sometimes but my love for you never changed," she said as per Briefly News

With Amazulu set to take on TS Galaxy in the semi-final of the Carling Knockout, Mphahlele, during his speech, said that the side "will win" the trophy for their former teammate.

""When we win it – I'm not saying 'if' because we will win it – we will bring it here to Cato Ridge to you, Bongi," he said as per The Citizen
