Mokoena's promise to Downs chairman

Bafana Bafana midfielder Tebogo Mokoena has made a promise to Mamelodi Sundowns chairman Tlhope Motsepe that they would lift a second CAF Champions League.

Mokoena was named as the DStv Premiership's Footballer of the Season award after a stellar debut season for the Brazilians.

"When I look back where I come from and the way I used to play and right now I am miles ahead, I am miles ahead. My mentality has changed a lot.

"When around this environment, your mentality changes. You must change the way of life and the way you treat people.

"Funny enough, when I got here, I used to greet everyone sitting down but when I got here, it doesn't matter who you are greeting, it can be a child or whoever must stand up, that is the culture of the team.

"This is what I have been taught here. It is one of the things I was taught when I got here.

"I am enjoying my football. It's been tough, and it will always be tough because the competition is tough, and that is making us improve and keep winning.

We want to get better every time, and I am not happy as yet because when signed, I promised the chairman, we were going to win the Champions League. We're still working on it," said Mokoena.

Sundowns take on Petro De Luanda in the African Football League in Tshwane.

Sundowns are currently enjoying a healthy lead after beating the Angolan side by 2-0 away from home on Saturday.
