Bafana held by Namibia at Orlando

Bafana Bafana go into the halftime break goalless against Namibia in an international friendly at Orlando Stadium

There were starts for goalkeeper Veli Mothwa, Sphelelo Sithole, Bathusi Aubaas and Lyle Foster, while SuperSport United defender Siyanda Xulu was handed the captain's armband for the day.

With the confidence high for Bafana following the win over Morocco in their last match, the South Africans were eager to set the balling rolling against the Brave Warriors to continue the momentum.

Colin Benjamin's men though were lively in the opening stages but were on the edge after a foul in a promising area led to a free-kick for the host, but Monnapule Saleng failed to trouble goalkeeper Lloyd Kazapua.

Bafana looked to impose themselves a lot more with forward runs from deep by Innocent Maela, Saleng, and Thabiso Monyane but weren't able to breach the stubborn Brave Warriors.

Foster was removed for Lebogang Mothiba after the break while Mlungisi Mbunjana and Grant Kekana filled in for Sithole and Xulu, as coach Hugo Broos re-shuffled the pack.

The pressure from the host continued after halftime when Kobamelo Kodisang's angled shot from a tight angle in the area shaved narrowly past the far post.

Namibia remained stern in their approach and in actual fact pulled clear at the other end before having Deon Hotto's teasing shot put Mothwa in a spot of bother.

Bafana enjoyed the better territorial play ahead of full-time, with Kazapua forced to tip a probing header from Kekana over target following a free-kick.

The host continued to come forward before the end but were unable to get the winner and were reduced to a third straight draw against Colin Benjamin's charges.
