Liverpool want to sign Chelsea star amid 'contract stand-off'

Liverpool reportedly want to bolster their squad with a certain Chelsea star, whose contract situation has been described as 'complicated'.

Attacking midfielder Mason Mount is said to be in talks with the London club over a new deal, with 18 months remaining on his current contract.

However, there is reportedly a stand-off between the two parties due to the wage demand as the midfielder is looking to triple his  £80,000-a-week wages.

Reports in England claim that Liverpool could look to take advantage of the situation in the next transfer window.

Jurgen Klopp will be looking to strengthen Liverpool's midfield next season, with the Daily Mail reporting that club have been interested in the England international for a while.

Blues manager recently gave an update on the talks between Mount and the club, which he hopes to get wrapped up soon.

"It is always complicated, there's always negotiations,' Potter said. 'It is best that I leave it between Mason and the club.

"It is the best way for that to be dealt with. As far as I am concerned, he is fantastic to work with.

"He is an important player for us. I hope it gets resolved quickly."

Mount, who is a product of the Chelsea academy, has made 190 appearances for the club and was part of the team that lifted the UEFA Champions League in 2021.
