Chiefs star dreaming of first senior goal

Njabulo Blom is itching to finally get his name on the scoresheet for Kaizer Chiefs as he inches closer to reaching the 100-game milestone with the club.

Since making his senior debut for Kaizer Chiefs in 2019, versatile midfielder Njabulo Blom has become a mainstay in the first team squad where he has made 91 appearances for the club across all competitions to date.

The 22-year-old has recorded eight assists during that time, having played as a right-back, right midfielder, defensive midfielder and central midfielder, but is yet to find the back of the net himself.

That is a statistic Blom is hoping to change in the near future as he looks to add his name to the club's list of illustrious goalscorers, albeit with the understanding that the role required of him may delay that from happening.

"I think every player has ambitions to score a goal. It's a great feeling to see my teammates score, so I just imagine how great it would feel if I scored a goal," he told the club's media team prior to Sunday's match against Stellenbosch FC.

"I try to put myself I good positions in games but, obviously, I must also respect my position, respect the roles that the coach gives me… but it's something that I'm looking forward to."

Blom most recently took to the pitch during Chiefs' 3-1 win over Stellenbosch FC where, despite making an error for the hosts' goal, was one of the club's star performers on the day.
