Dinamo Zagreb 1-0 Chelsea
Chelsea got their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign off to a losing start after going down 1-0 to Dinamo Zagreb on Tuesday evening at Stadion Maksimir.
The Blues rotated their team, as new signing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang got his debut, flanked by Raheem Sterling and Kai Havertz upfront, while the other new signing, Denis Zakaria, on loan from Juventus, started from the bench.
Dinamo had a dream start as Mislav Orsic gave them the lead on 13 minutes from a quick counter-attack with a chip that Kepa got a hand to but could not prevent it from going in after a flick on by Bruno Petkovic.
Thomas Tuchel's charges remained on the front foot and created chances but they were ultimately frustrated for the majority of the first stanza by the Croatian side, that looked dangerous on transitions.
Chelsea thought they had equalised early in the second stanza after Aubameyang converted a square pass by Chilwell but the goal was disallowed for offside.
The visitors struggled to create clear opportunities as the game progressed and Tuchel brought on the likes of Marc Cucurella and Christian Pulisic in the closing stages.
The changes gave the Blues new found energy as Reece James unleashed a strike that came off the frame of goal in the dying minutes. However, Dinamo held on for a famous win.

Borussia Dortmund 3-0 FC Copenhagen
Borussia Dortmund enjoyed a winning start in Group G after a resounding 3-0 win over FC Copenhagen on Tuesday evening at Signal Iduna Park.
Dortmund goalkeeper Alexander Meyer got his debut alongside recalls for the likes of Raphael Guerrero, Julian Brandt and Thorgan Hazard.
The German side had the set-back of losing Hazard due to injury midway through the first stanza and he was replaced by Giovanni Reyna.
The hosts eventually broke the deadlock ten minutes before the halftime break courtesy of a low strike into the bottom corner by Marco Reus after a square pass by Brandt.
Raphael Guerreiro doubled the for Edin Terzic's charges just before the halftime break with a tap-in after a he was setup by Reyna.
The second stanza did not see much goal-mouth action but Jude Bellingham sealed the three points for with the third goal for Dortmund seven minutes before time after another square ball by Reyna.
Rasmus Falk Jensen was denied a consolation goal for Copenhagen in the last minute by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) for offside.
