Barca & Inter play out six-goal thriller

FC Barcelona and Inter Milan drew 3-3 draw in the first-leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday evening.

Barca were unchanged from the Copa del Rey victory over Real Madrid, while the Italian champions welcomed back Denzel Dumfries and Marcus Thuram from injury, while Yann Bisseck came in for the injured Benjamin Pavard.

The Blaugrana were stunned in the opening minute as Thuram applied an exquisite finish into the bottom-corner from a cross by Dumfries.

Inter’s dream start continued in the opening-quarter when Dumfries charged in the six-yard box to volley in a knockdown from Fransceco Acerbi.

The LaLiga leaders hit back three minutes later after Lamine Yamal came in on the right of the area amidst a crowded penalty area and curled into the far-corner and became the youngest player to score in a Champions League semi-final.

Barcelona had all the momentum from then on and levelled matters seven minutes to halftime when Raphinha dropped to the shoulder of the area and cutback for Ferran Torres to side-foot in.

The Blaugrana were required to make a substitution three minutes to the break as Jules Kounde picked up a knock and removed for Eric Garcia.

After an action-packed opening half, the Nerazzurri were also forced into a change where captain Lautaro Martinez made way for Mehdi Taremi.

Inter weren’t unsettled though and regained the lead a little later when Dumfries bombed in the six-yard box to head in a pin-point corner from Hakan Calhanoglu.

Barcelona, however, levelled immediately after goalkeeper Yann Sommer helped a thumping long-range shot from Raphinha into the back of his own net.

The Nerazzurri looked to have gone back ahead inside the last ten minutes through a first-time effort by Henrikh Mkhitaryan, but it was disallowed for offside by the assistant referee.

Both teams went all out for the winner in the closing minutes, but settled for a share of the spoils with all to play in the return-leg next Tuesday.
