UEFA Champions League match report Club Brugge v Galatasaray

Club Brugge began their UEFA Champions League campaign with a point, but Percy Tau did not feature against Galatasaray on Wednesday evening.

Tau was only named on the Brugge bench for the tournament opener, while the Turkish outfit threw Radamel Falcao, Ryan Babel and Sofiane Feghouli into their front three.

Brugge got off to a lively start as Emmanuel Bonaventure Dennis headed wide after eight minutes, while Matej Mitrovic went close with a header of his own a few minutes later.

The chances continued to fall for the hosts, who went even closer on 34 minutes when Federico Ricca hit the crossbar from close range, just moments before Simone Mignolet was called upon to deny Babel.

The Belgian Pro League side had the upper hand in the first half, but they were unable to make their dominance count in the opening 45 minutes.

Fernando Muslera came to the Turks' rescue after the halftime break as the shot-stopper produced two good saves to deny Dennis and Okereke in the opening 10 minutes.

Lois Openda was brought on after 60 minutes and he nearly made an immediate impact for Brugge, but the striker sent his effort over the crossbar from close range.

The game opened up in the closing stages, with both sides managing to create openings although Galatasaray's Fernando Muslera was the busier of the two goalkeepers.

Falcao, who had a quiet game, almost snatched the winner in second-half stoppage time but his glancing header sailed into the side-netting as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils.

Olympiakos 2-2 Tottenham Hotspur

Olympiakos rallied back from two goals down to draw 2-2 with Tottenham Hotspur in their Group B opener on Wednesday evening.

The North London outfit were awarded a penalty after 26 minutes when Harry Kane was brought down in the box. The England international took responsibility and slotted home for the lead. The lead was doubled four minutes later through Lucas Moura, who found the back of the net with a superb finish from around 20-yards out.

Olympiakos managed to pull one back through Daniel Podence just befor the halftime break, before Mathieu Valbuena equalised on 54 minutes from the penalty spot.
