Zlatan Ibrahimovic's future at AC Milan in jeopardy

On Monday morning, Ibrahimovic was reportedly forced to abandon a training session after suffering a suspected calf strain in practice, and the 38-year-old could now be ruled out for the remainder of the 2019/20 Serie A campaign.

According to Spanish publication AS, the former Sweden international pulled up while chasing down a pass from one of his teammates, and Milan now fear that he suffered a reoccurrence of an injury that plagued him earlier this year.

Ibrahimovic reportedly walked off the training pitch without the aid of crutches, but the former Manchester United and FC Barcelona star will have to undergo further testing to assess the full extent of his latest injury.

There are concerns he has suffered damage to his Achilles tendon, which would see him sidelined for an extended period, and possibly beyond the expiration of his contract with the club at the end of the season.

The 11-time Ballon d'Or nominee's long-term future in Milan was already in doubt prior to Monday's misfortune, and if he is set for a prolonged spell in the recovery room, he may well have played his final match for the club.
