Ten Hag 'makes big cup final call'

Manager Erik ten Hag has reportedly made a big decision regarding Manchester United's Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United this weekend.

The Red Devils will face off against Eddie Howe's side at Wembley Stadium on Sunday as both teams look to end lengthy trophy droughts.

United have not won a trophy since their 2016/17 Europa League triumph, while the Magpies have, so far, waited 54 years for a major title of their own – while they did win the EFL Championship a few years back, that trophy is not considered a major title.

With both clubs thus enduring long waits for their next piece of silverware, there were suggestions a trophy parade could be on the cards for the team that wins the League Cup final this weekend.

However, according to the Daily Mail, Red Devils boss Ten Hag has dismissed the idea of having a parade for only one trophy.

It is said the Dutchman will only consider having one if the club claims at least two titles this season.

The report adds that Ten Hag wants his team to immediately switch their focus to their next match, against West Ham United on 1 March, after the final.

United last held a trophy parade in 2013, after they won their last Premier League title in Sir Alex Ferguson's final campaign in charge of the club.

Newcastle, meanwhile, are understood to have decided they will have a trophy parade on Tuesday, 28 February, if they win the cup on Sunday.

Interestingly, Howe's side last held such a parade in 1999, after they were beaten by the Red Devils in the FA Cup final.
