Onana breaks silence on pre-season row with Maguire

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has finally broken his silence on his pre-season row with teammate Harry Maguire.

Maguire's career has take a sizeable dip since manager Erik ten Hag took over the reigns last season, with the Dutch boss placing the defender quite low on his pecking order.

This season, Ten Hag took things a step further and stripped Maguire of the captain's armband and electing Bruno Fernandes as the new skipper instead.

With the Englishman on the receiving end of constant criticism, both club and national team level, former Liverpool captain Jamie Carragher recently noted two incidents that affected the the 30-year-old's standing in the United dressing room.

According to the former defender-turned-pundit, the pre-season incident that saw Onana berate Maguire during a match was one of the catalyst to the latter's seeming downfall.

However, the Cameroonian goalkeeper has now opened up about the much-talked about on-field row, rubbishing any suggestions that there is now a rift between the two of them.

"Harry's a very good guy, I have a good relationship with him, I spoke to him this morning before we took off," he told reporters, according to Metro.

"What happened there was done straight after the game. I don't think we have to give too much to what happened, we are big guys and what happened on the pitch stays on the pitch, we have a good relationship.

"I'm a very passionate player, I demand a lot of my defenders. We are in this together, being part of a big club is something great."
