European giants 'make' move for Greenwood on deadline day

A top European club has now reportedly made a move to sign Manchester United outcast Mason Greenwood on deadline day.

The striker no longer has a future at Old Trafford after the club confirmed they would be parting ways with him in on 21 August following a six-month internal investigation.

The player's promising career came to a halt in January 2022 when he was arrested on charges of attempted rape, assault occasioning bodily harm, and coercive and controlling behaviour.

The Crown Prosecution Service eventually dropped the charges in February this year, but it has since been made clear that United no longer want to associate themselves with the Englishman after a thorough probe into the matter.

As such, it is now reported that Serie A giants Lazio are actively exploring an opportunity to sign him today, according to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio.

It is claimed the two clubs are already in talks over a potential move, but no decision has been made yet, with Lazio boss Mauricio Sarri's approval still needed too.

The Sun also claims that if the Red Devils fail to offload Greenwood today, it could cost them quite a lot of money in the future as the player has a contract until 2025.
