Mbappe advised to leave PSG by ex-coach

Former Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino says Kylian Mbappe should leave the French giants if he wants to compete for the Ballon d'Or.

Mbappe was reportedly set to join Real Madrid before the start of the 2022/23 season, but he surprised many by signing a new three-year deal with PSG.

The new deal reportedly made the Frenchman the highest-paid player at the club, a position that was previously held by Argentine superstar Lionel Messi.

Pochettino was sacked by PSG at the end of last season, but feels Mbappe's development would benefit if he decided to move to another money.

"He is on an upward path, and from now on we would have to see the best Mbappe with even better records. Evolution often happens by leaving the comfort zone," the former PSG coach told El Paris.

"Renewing for PSG is good for the club and its fans. But Mbappe in the future will have to consider that leaving his comfort zone will bring him closer to fighting for the Ballon d'Or."

The former Tottenham Hotspur tactician also claimed that Mbappe is immature compared to Messi and Neymar.

"Mbappe is younger than [Messi and Neymar] and still immature. He is an animal, he has great charisma but still needs to find himself," he added.

"Leo and Ney are total players, they are more responsible although in different ways. While Kylian keeps looking for himself."
