New FC Barcelona signing Sergio Aguero 'rejects' Lionel Messi No. 10 shirt

One of FC Barcelona's new signings has seemingly become the latest player to reject the opportunity to inherit Lionel Messi's former No. 10 shirt at the Camp Nou.

Earlier this week, it was widely reported that Philippe Coutinho was offered the chance to wear the legendary shirt, but the Brazilian is rumoured to have rejected the chance to do so.

According to the Daily Mirror, Sergio Aguero has also rejected the opportunity to play with the number he famously wore at Manchester City.

Gerard Pique reportedly had an interview on his new Twitch channel after his side's LaLiga opener against Real Sociedad last weekend and spoke about who should be wearing the jersey.

"Well, I think someone will have to take it on (the jersey)," Pique said during the stream, per the Mirror.

"I told Kun (Aguero) to take that number. But Kun doesn't see it like that."

It has been confirmed that the Argentine striker will be wearing the No. 19 shirt at his new club for the upcoming campaign after joining as a free agent.

Barca legends who donned the No. 10 shirt include the late Diego Maradona, Pep Guardiola, Hristo Stoichkov, Romario, Rivaldo, Riquelme, Ronaldinho and more.

It appears that the aforementioned duo is not keen on wearing the iconic shirt that comes with so much history.
