LaLiga match report Cadiz v Barcelona 10 September 2022

FC Barcelona climbed to the summit of the LaLiga table with a 4-0 victory away to Cadiz on Saturday evening.

After a hat-trick in the UEFA Champions League in midweek, Robert Lewandowski was on the bench for Barca and Raphinha earned a starting berth once more following his starring role against Valencia.

Barca managed the work an early opening when Memphis Depay dribbled about in the area and the delivery to Frenkie De Jong resulted in a save off Jeremias Ledesma.

A succession of chances from the Catalans followed with Raphinha finding the base of the post from a pass by Gavi before Ferran Torres guided the follow-up wide.

Raphinha continued to cause the host problems midway in the first half when he volleyed a loose ball from an attempt involving Depay wide of target.

Cadiz enjoyed little forays throughout the half and allowed Barca to work another opening before halftime where Torres curled a cutback from De Jong narrowly over the top.

Manager Xavi Hernandez then showed three changes with Lewandowski, Ousmane Dembele and Pedri introduced shortly after the breakthrough.

Lewandowski continued his goal-scoring exploits inside the closing quarter when he arrived in the area and stabbed home a goal-mouth scramble with Cadiz unable to clear their lines.

Barcelona could've made it three a little later from a first-time effort by Raphinha following a knockdown by Dembele, but Ledesma parried.

There was a lengthy stoppage at the end of the match after a supporter in the stands needed medical assistance and the match was halted.

It resumed and the Catalans continued from they left off, with substitute Ansu Fati making it three in the last four minutes after he finished off an assist by Lewandowski.

Dembele rounded off the scoring for the visitors when he turned home a delivery by Lewandowski, as Xavi's charges leapfrog Real Madrid into top spot.
