The Argentine star is said to have already signed a pre-contract agreement with the club, and is expected to be a replacement for Oriol Romeu, who is believed to be on his way back to his parent club Girona.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, the 30-year-old has had a verbal agreement with the club in place since two weeks ago.

Barca, however, are said to be waiting on Financial Fair Play approval before formalising the deal, which is reportedly a two-year contract with an option of extending it until 2027.

Rodriguez has made 27 appearances in all competitions for Betis this season, with the defensive midfielder having also contributed with two goals and an assist.

He has helped Real Betis to seventh spot on the league table with more four matches left to play, and is anticipated to be in action when his side goes head to head with Almeria on Sunday.

The Blaugrana, meanwhile, are believed to still be interested in making more midfield signings, having been linked with Bayern Munich star Joshua Kimmich and Real Sociedad's Martin Zubimendi too.
