Xavi disagrees with Pep over racism in Spain

FC Barcelona manager Xavi Hernandez says he disagrees with Pep Guardiola's view on racism in Spain after the Vinicius Junior incident.

A number of footballers, past and present, spoke up on social after the treatment Vinicius has to face during away games in the Spanish top-flight.

Guardiola recently claimed that it is highly unlikely that racism will go away in Spain after the abuse directed at Vinicius by Valencia fans last week.

"They know what they have to do. The problem is that there is racism everywhere. Not just for gender, but for colour, for attitudes," Guardiola said, as per the Mirror.

"Hopefully it can be one step to getting better in Spain but I'm not optimistic. I know a little bit about the country and I'm not really optimistic."

Xavi has since disagreed with his former coach over his comments about the issues not getting dealt with in Spain.

"I disagree with Pep. And I agree with him on almost everything, but not here," Xavi told Marca.

"It is an educational issue. If we stay as we are, we will not advance but if the game stops the other day and they go home, we are educating.

"Insult are not normal [at work]. It is a matter for the state, federations, government, LaLiga…".
