Arsenal moved to second spot on the Premier League table with a 1-0 win over the champions Manchester City on Sunday evening.
Jorginho started for the first time this season for Arsenal, as Bernardo Silva, Rico Lewis and Josko Gvardiol were recalled by the treble winners.
Arsenal didn't settle well and very nearly saw Gvardiol profit from a snap effort at the far post but Declan Rice cleared off the line before Nathan Ake grabbed the follow-up and steered over.
More openings followed the Citizens as Arsenal continued to live on the edge when Julian Alvarez interrupted a build-phase to go in on goalkeeper David Raya before firing into the side-netting.
Pep Guardiola's charges were soon on the back-foot as former City man Gabriel Jesus darted in and around the danger area before working the gloves of goalkeeper Ederson.
Guardiola's men conjured another move through a floated ball from quick passing play, but Erling Haaland mis-calculated the delivery and saw the chance fly across target.
Arsenal enjoyed a decent start to the second half and had Gabriel Martinelli go towards the near post to force a save from Ederson with a left-footed attempt.
With City enjoying the lion share of momentum, Guardiola introduced three changes as John Stones, Matheus Nunes and Jeremy Doku replaced Lewis, Mateo Kovacic and Alvarez for the final 20 minutes.
The Gunners were alive though despite the reinforcements of the Citizens, and they grabbed the lead in the last four minutes when Martinelli's first-time shot deflected off Ake and sailed past a helpless Ederson.
City attempted to hit back as the minutes ticked by, but were unable to get a way in and slumped to a second straight league defeat.
