Official: Xherdan Shaqiri completes permanent move to Olympique Lyon

Liverpool have confirmed the departures of Switzerland international Xherdan Shaqiri and Ben Woodburn.

Shaqiri made just 63 appearances since joining the Reds from Stoke City in 2018, and is now leaving to get some regular game time.

The Premier League winner has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Ligue 1 side Olympique Lyon.

"Olympique Lyonnais are very pleased to announce the signing of the Swiss international midfielder Xherdan Shaqiri from Liverpool, for a fee of €6M, with a maximum of €5m in bonuses," a statement from Lyon read.

"After having passed his medical today in Lyon, Xherdan Shaqiri has signed a 3-year contract with Olympique Lyonnais, until June 30, 2024."

Woodburn, meanwhile, will spend the 2021/22 season loan at Scottish Premiership side Hearts.

The 21-year-old has already notched up 11 appearances for the Reds' first team but he will now get some valuable minutes in the Scottish top flight.
