Official: Jose Mourinho returns to the Premier League with Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham Hostpur have confirmed Jose Mourinho as the successor to Mauricio Pochettino just hours after the Argentine was sacked from his role as head coach.

Mourinho, 56, has been out of work since being sacked by Manchester United in December 2018 and will now begin his third stint in the English top-flight.

The three-time Premier League champion expressed his delight upon his return to England and explained why he opted for Spurs.

"I am excited to be joining a Club with such a great heritage and such passionate supporters," Mourinho told the club's website after signing a three-year deal.

"The quality in both the squad and the academy excites me. Working with these players is what has attracted me."

Mourinho has won 25 major titles over the past 19 years since starting his managerial career with Benfica back in 2000.
