The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League qualifying journey for Siyabonga Ngezana's FCSB has been revealed, with the Romanian side's start date and opponents having been confirmed.
Champions League football beckons for Ngezana if all goes accordingly after his club FCSB were crowned Romanian champions last season, ensuring a spot in the qualifying rounds of Europe's elite club competition for the 2024/25 campaign.

Due to UEFA's coefficient ranking system, winning the Romania SuperLiga does not guarantee a place in the tournament's main phase, which was previously the group-stage round but it is now structured in a new league phase format from 2024/25 onward.
As such, FCSB have secured a spot in the first round of UCL qualifying, and have found out who their opponents will be following a draw held at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland, this week.
Following the official draw by UEFA, FCSB will face 2023/24 San Marino champions AC Virtus in the first qualifying round, with the winner of that match set to face Maccabi Tel Aviv of Israel in the second qualifying round.
The first leg between Ngezana's team and Sammarinese outfit will take place on 9/10 July, with the return fixture being played on 16/17 July.
In the event that FCSB win their two-legged first-round tie, they will meet the Tel Aviv club on 23/24 July in the first leg, and again on 30/31 July for the return tie.

Reports in Romania suggest that while FCSB have already travelled to the Netherlands for pre-season training, Ngezana is among a handful of players who are yet to join up with the team there, with the South African said to have asked for a few extra days off due to personal commitments, as per DigiSport.
