Benni's wait for first Kenya win continues

Benni McCarthy's wait for a first win as Kenya coach continued following a goalless draw against Chad on Saturday evening.

McCarthy started Polokwane City goalkeeper Brian Bwire and gave Stellenbosch full-back Brian Onyango the captain's armband.

Played in the Moroccan city of Marrakech, the start to the match was extremely quiet where few chances to goal from either side came to the equation.

Chad looked to hit the ground running though earlier on when a smart header by Damba William made a way towards the intended target, but it was too close to Bwire.

The contest remained tight throughout the course of the first period as a lack of goal-mouth activity continued to sat in on either nation.

With halftime concluded, there wee no substitutions ahead of the second half from either side as the clash remained tight all round.

Kenya targeted the opener around the closing stages and were inches away when Will Wilson charged in on the right of the area to get a shot in, but he couldn’t rattle the net.

A lot of stoppages, fouls, rough challenges continued to affect the tempo of the match with a stalemate a distinct possibility.

Given the lacklustre approach, the clash ended goalless as the two nations meet again in a few days time in another friendly
