Riveiro 'facing the sack' after Al Ahly loss

The pressure on Jose Riveiro continues to rise after Al Ahly suffered a defeat to African champions Pyramids FC on Saturday night.

The Club of the Century came into the clash with just one win from their opening three encounters in the Egyptian Premier League.

The Spaniard faced a bit of criticism this week, with some pundits and former players calling for him to leave.

However, Saturday night did not help his case as they suffered a 2-0 defeat to the CAF Champions League holders.

Walid El Karti was the hero on the day after scoring a goal in each half to hand their second win of the campaign.

Al Ahly, meanwhile, find themselves in 12th position after suffering their first loss of the season.

Reports in Egypt claimed that the Al Ahly board called for an emergency meeting on Sunday to discuss the loss.

Kooora reported that there is a chance that the board could dismiss Riveiro, especially after the fans made their feelings clear after the loss on Saturday night.

Ramovic off to winning start in Ligue 1

In Algeria, Sead Ramovic's CR Belouizdad started their Ligue 1 campaign with a 1-0 win over Paradou on Saturday evening.

South African forward Khanyiso Mayo was not included in the matchday squad amid reports that he is not Ramovic's plans for the season.

Abdennour Belhocini managed to get the only goal of the contest for Belouizdad, who moved up to third position.
