Al-Hilal make request to CAF for Al Ahly clash

The two sides will battle it out for the final spot in the Champions League quarter-finals after Mamelodi Sundowns secured top spot in Group A.

However, the Sudanese side have now made a formal request that the Video Assistant Referee technology be used for the encounter in Cairo.

Al-Hilal's request echoed Pitso Mosimane's constant plea for the African football governing body to use the technology in Africa's premier club competition.

"The game was difficult but the most important thing is that we won and collected three more points in the qualification race," Mosimane said after the win over Al-Merrikh.

"Once again, I am telling you we need VAR in the Champions League group stage, it's crucial."
