New star in Tanzania catches Nabi's Attention

With a number of stars in the Tanzanian top flight linked to Kaizer Chiefs, it is now claimed that a new potential signing has caught the South African club’s attention.

Chiefs boss Nasreddine Nabi made a discreet visit to Tanzania recently, having been spotted at a match between Simba SC and Singida Black Stars on 28 May in Dar es Salaam.

This sparked speculation, as the Soweto giants were already reported to be scouting potential reinforcements in the Tanzanian Premier League.

Azam FC playmaker Feisal Salum has long been linked with a move to Naturena, while Nabi’s presence at the Simba match was thought to be a scouting mission focused on the club’s forward Denis Kibu.

Earlier this week, it was reported that Simba had turned down a bid from Chiefs for Kibu.

However, it is now suggested that another Simba player has caught Amakhosi’s eye.

According to DailySport.net, insider sources claim Chiefs are now interested in signing midfielder Jean Charles Ahoua.

“Kibu was on their radar, but Ahoua’s name keeps coming up in discussions,” said the outlet's alleged insider source.

Ahoua is a 23-year-old Ivorian attacking midfielder who recorded three goals and two assists during the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup.

According to Transfermarkt, Ahoua joined Simba in July 2024 in a deal worth €275,000 (approximately R5.5 million).

His current contract runs until June 2026, meaning he will enter the final year of his deal next season—potentially lowering the fee Simba could demand.
