The club's National Supporters' Club chairperson Pule Mabena has confirmed that both the buyer (Bloemfontein-based businesswoman Sinki Leshabane) and seller (owner Max Tshabalala) agreed to the sale this week.
At a meeting on Thursday night between supporters, government and Leshabane it was agreed that a task team would be set up to ensure the deal goes through successfully.
"The meeting went well," Mabena told snl24.com/kickoff.
"The [Free State] Government have promised to establish a task team that will try to fast-track the sale of the team. They will be meeting both the buyer and the seller to actually submit what is required of them, so that the transaction can be concluded.
"On the 3rd of March we are having a meeting where we are going to have a report back on the progress made from today till the 1st of March. It's Sinki Leshabane and her consortium [who are buying the team], they are based in Bloemfontein.
"Remember we met with Max on Monday together with the task team. He said he is selling the team, and the buyer Sinki Leshabane in last night's meeting confirmed that she is still interested in buying the team, provided she's been provided with certain documents that she needs, then she will continue with the transaction."
This website contacted Celtic media officer Sello Nduna for official word from the club.
"You know what, we were not part of that as management," Nduna said.
"It was initiated by the supporter structures, provincial government... so we were not part of that. It's a bit awkward for me to make a comment because I don't have all the details.
"The meeting was only yesterday around five, I think it went only until after seven or so, I will only get the briefing today. But seemingly like you say, it looks likes the meeting went exceptionally well."
