According to Siyavutha CEO Freddy Mapulane, Troughton has been promised a technical director position at Sporting.
"He asked us to release him from his contract," Mapulane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"His reason is that he's got a new offer, and then this offer he got to him it's like a promotion because he is not going to coach where he is going. He is going to be a technical director. So he requested us as management to release him from his contract, of which it was not an easy decision. We fetched him sitting at home and jobless, all of a sudden people see him here with us and he decides to leave ...That's his decision and where he is going he is not gonna be lost to football, he went to Sporting. The one we played against last week."
He adds: "But as you know that Vusi Mkhatshwa is there and he will take over on an interim basis until we find a replacement. It's not our intention to fire a coach but he is the one who decided to go. CV's are welcome, but we want a coach who has worked in the NFD, who knows this league. We are not going to repeat the same mistake we did at the beginning of the season."
