Khenyeza, one of the PSL’s most deadly strikers, retires as the league’s second-time all-time top scorer, with 110 goals to his name.
The player began his PSL career with Golden Arrows, before making a move to Kaizer Chiefs, where he holds the record of scoring the fastest goal in the Soweto Derby in 19 seconds against Orlando Pirates in November 2007.
The Howick-born player later made a move to Ajax Cape Town, and after a successful period with the Urban Warriors, he attracted interest from Tshwane giants Mamelodi Sundowns.
Khenyeza went on to also play for SuperSport United, Mpumalanga Black Aces, and had second spells with Ajax and Arrows. He ended his career with Usuthu and now looks set to be the assistant coach at Maritzburg.
“I have thoroughly enjoyed my football career but it is time now for a new chapter in my life,” Khenyeza said.
“I'm extremely grateful for my time at AmaZulu. I owe a lot of thanks to management, the technical team and my teammates for their understanding as this was not an easy decision.”
Usuthu general manager Lunga Sokhela said: “I am extremely sad to see him leave. He was such an integral part of the club, both on and off the field. He has always expressed his wish to coach and as a club we could not stand in his way. I hope we will work together again in the future.”
