The Buccaneers will be without previous Derby hero Luvuyo Memela, who scored a brace in their 3-1 victory the last time the two sides met in March.
‘Amigo’ has been ruled out through a knee strain, the club have confirmed, and faces a further three weeks on the sidelines.
The 31-year-old has been hampered by injury this season, having made just one substitute appearance against Cape Town City over a month ago.
He missed Pirates’ opening seven games after picking up a knee injury towards the end of last season and has struggled to shake the ailment off and regain his fitness.
"Winger Luvuyo Memela has been ruled out for this encounter. Amigo, as he is affectionately known, suffered a knee strain and as a result will be out for three weeks,” read a statement from the club on Thursday.
Meanwhile, midfield kingpin Musa Nyatama, who assistant coach Rhulani Mokwena recently dubbed “the best deep-lying playmaker in the country”, is set for a late fitness test on Friday.
“Musa Nyatama is due to undergo a late fitness test after picking up a knock in the cup win over the Chilli Boys,” the statement added.
