Pirates finished second in the Absa Premiership behind champions Mamelodi Sundowns last term and have made a promising start to the current campaign, as they look to end a trophy drought that has gone on for five years now.
Solinas, who will be coaching in his first Soweto Derby at FNB Stadium on Saturday (15h30), has been impressed with what he bas seen from the Buccaneers.
"It's a good team. Last season they did very well, they earned second position and this season they [will] participate in the CAF Champions League. This season they sign good players, so it's two good teams," Solinas said earlier this week.
The Italian tactician added: "The Derby is a special game and we don't need extra motivation. We need to be calm and no pressure. We need to focus more on specific details."
Good news for Solinas is that he'll have his most influential player Khama Billiat available for the match. Amakhosi will need their Zimbabwean attacker to be in fine form to find a chink in the Buccaneers' armour.
