After Maritzburg United announced a partnership with Bundesliga side Arminia Bielefeld, here is a look at the South African stars who previously played in the German top-flight.
On Tuesday, DStv Premiership side Maritzburg United announced an official partnership with Bundesliga outfit Arminia Bielefeld in a move that will see the German outfit strengthen their longstanding relationship with South African football.

"For us, this cooperation is the first step towards connecting Arminia Bielefeld internationally with people who love football," Bielefeld vice-president Maurice Eschweiler said, per the Bundesliga.
"Despite the great distance and the difficult situation caused by the worldwide Corona pandemic, we've already been able to make a lot of difference with various campaigns and bring a lot of joy to the children and young people in South Africa, train young talents and coaches in this football-mad country."
While the partnership has been billed as an international platform upon which to exchange knowledge, it is hoped that the arrangement will also forge opportunities for South African footballers to make the trip to Bielefeld and other teams in Germany.
The Bundesliga side previously called four of Mzansi's stars their own after boasting the Bafana Bafana quartet of Delron Buckley, Rowen Fernandez, Siyabonga Nkosi and Sibusiso Zuma among their ranks in yesteryear.
Elsewhere, Steven Pienaar famously represented Borussia Dortmund, a club Buckley also turned out, while made a name for himself abroad with the likes of VfB Stuttgart, Borussia Monchengladbach and Karlsruher.
Lance Davids represented 1860 Munich and Rowan Hendricks had a brief stint at Eintracht Frankfurt, before which lesser-known Glenn Jordens turned out for Darmstadt 89 during the early 1980s.
