Top scorer award for ex-Downs striker

The Chinese League One season will end with Nyasha Mushekwi bagging the top goal scorer award after all but wrapping it up with yet another goal.

Mushekwi's goals have been the reason behind Yunnan Yukun's promotion with the former Zimbabwe international on to his third promotion job in China.

Number 25 of the season came after he latched onto a long ball from Alexandru Ionita, before rounding off the keeper to stab home with his right foot in a 2-0 win over Dalian Yingbo.

Mushekwi has one more game to play against Liaoning Tieren on Sunday as the Chinese League One reaches its conclusion.

Though Yunnan Yukun have already won the league and promotion to the Super League, the veteran is out to put the final stamp on his standing as the best striker in that league.

The 37-year-old has scored 25 goals this season and sits comfortable at the top of the scoring charts, seven goals ahead of Colombian striker Juan Diego Alegria with only one game left to play.

Mushekwi has been on double numbers for 11 of the 14 years that he has played professional football in South Africa, Sweden and China.
