Khanya Leshabela: Brendan Rodgers hints at loan move for Leicester City prospect

Leicester City head coach Brendan Rodgers has hinted that South African prospect Khanya Leshabela could be loaned out ahead of the 2020/21 season.

Having signed a three-year contract last year after impressing previous coach Claude Puel, Leshabela has clearly caught the eye of Rodgers, who afforded him a start at left-back in a pre-season outing last week.

The Amajita starlet who can feature as a winger and in central midfield was one of 10 academy graduates names in the matchday squad and Rodgers has now conceded they will look to loan them out to gain first-team football experience.

"These guys are not 17, 18, a lot of them are 20 to 22, so they're at a good age," Rodgers told LCFC TV when asked about the new faces in the squad.

"They've absolutely been superb since they've come in. Their attitude has been great. They've shown respect but they've played with no fear and looked to try to impress.

"They're a talented young bunch. Some of them will probably end up going out to Championship clubs and League One clubs to continue with their development."
