The former Paris-Saint Germain midfielder joined the Premier League club from the Ligue 1 champions earlier this month, and has been included in a strong squad that will do battle in the two-day Cup in the Mother City this weekend.
Other household names from the Palace team include former Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh, ex-Manchester United duo Fraizer Campbell and Wilfried Zaha, former Liverpool defender Martin Kelly as well as forward Patrick Bamford, who recently arrived on loan from Chelsea.
Regular Premier League starters Julian Speroni, Mile Jedinak and Jason Puncheon, who helped their side to a tenth-place finish last season, are all part of the Palace squad that arrived on South African shores on Wednesday morning.
Palace get their Cape Town Cup underway with a fixture against SuperSport United on Friday evening, with the winner taking on the victors of Friday’s second semi-final between Ajax Cape Town and Sporting Lisbon on Sunday afternoon.
