Witbank Spurs, who were relegated from the National First Division (now GladAfrica Championship) last season, are undergoing major changes in the ABC Motsepe League.
According to new Director Freddy Mapulane, who worked as the club's CEO last season, Siyavutha will now be known as BTM Sports FC and former boss Themba Mafu will now serve as a technical advisor.
"I'm the new Director of BTM Sports FC, formally known as Witbank Spurs," Mapulane tells snl24.com/kickoff.
"The team will (still) play their games at Puma. We think we are ready to kickstart our first game against Bakone FC. Mr Mafu will now serve as a technical advisor. I need the supporters to be behind the team and give the necessary support so that we achieve our goal. If I'm not mistaken I'm the youngest Director in this League but the experience I have is non-questionable."
Mafu says the technical team will be headed by the club's former player Vusi Mthimkhulu.
"Vusi Mthimkhulu will be the coach working together with the Mubayiwa brothers, who will serve as player-coaches."
Asked if this means in future the team will be totally lost to the Witbank community, he said: "Let's put this clear. The team is residing in Lydenberg because we have been offered a training facility free. BTM is the new directors surnames including mine, that we work together in the company. Basically we didn't leave Witbank as you saw we will be playing at Puma and our offices are still in Witbank."
