Mngomeni was linked with a move to Moroka Swallows and was training with the club during pre-season, but he has since gone back home to Cape Town.
“I was at Swallows but I couldn’t agree terms with the club, plus the team was looking to have a small number of players for the upcoming season.”
The former South Africa international has not ruled out the possibility of signing for a PSL club this season, but he says he would prefer to join a Cape Town team instead of moving up north again.
“I can still play but I’m not going to rush myself to play again, I’m enjoying myself back home after being away for such a long time.
“I have been in talks with some clubs here in Cape Town and I would rather stay here then move elsewhere. Nothing has been finalised just yet but we’ll see what happens.”
Mngomeni, who turned 30 in February, spent most of last season in the stands at the Clever Boys before he was released at the end of the campaign.
