SuperSport United reportedly monitoring Joseph Ochaya

The Cranes left-back is currently a free agent after his contract with top Congolese side TP Mazembe expired and has been linked with a move to the PSL, according to reports in Uganda.

Ochaya joined Mazembe in 2018 and has won two domestic league titles with the CAF Champions League regulars. The 26-year-old has 46 Uganda Cranes caps and has played at two Africa Cup of Nations tournaments.

SuperSport are currently relying on veteran defender Onismor Bhasera at left-back after Ndivhuwo Ravhuhali struggled with injuries since he arrived from Polokwane City this season.

Matsatsantsa coach Kaitano Tembo is also playing Aubrey Modiba at left-back even though the Limpopo-born star is more effective as an attacking midfielder.

Club communications manager David Skhosane says he has not heard from coach Tembo on any update about new players for next season.

"The coach has not indicated anything so far. We are still facing the issue of Covid-19 and it's always difficult to work under these circumstances," Skhosane tells snl24.com/kickoff.

"Obviously there will be trialists for next season but it will also depend on the foreign quota."

Uganda captain Denis Onyango served SuperSport United before moving to Mpumalanga Black Aces, where he was picked up by Mamelodi Sundowns.

Kaizer Chiefs have also been speculatively linked with Ochaya as they look to strengthen the left-back position, along with Sifiso Hlanti, but the club cannot sign any players due to their FIFA transfer ban.
