Amakhosi host the Urban Warriors in their first of three home games at their alternate venue in Durban at Moses Mabhida Stadium, with Komphela pleased with the preparations heading into the game.
“We are ready and the lads are geared up for this encounter,” he is quoted as saying on his club’s official website.
“It is going to be tough. We have been working hard. I think we’ve covered enough ground to go into the game in a prepared state of mind and physique.”
Chiefs head into the encounter against the struggling Cape side on a run of three consecutive wins which propelled them to the top of the standings, the position Komphela hopes his team will maintain after the 90 minutes.
“We are happy with the fact that we have been recording results in our past games,” he continued. “We are not sure about the effects of the Fifa-break. However, we will have a sense a few minutes into the game.
“We have seen Ajax play in the past. They are not in a good position on the log position at the moment. But they play some good football under Roger de Sa and I’m sure that they want to move up the table. But we also have an ambition - to stay on top of the log.”
Chiefs failed to beat Ajax across three matches last season, drawing both home and away in the league while losing the MTN8 Final, yet Komphela insists those results are all in the past and should not be focused on.
“We are now past last season,” he said. “This is a new season and we have implemented changes. So this is going to be a different ball game all together. However, we are aware of the changes they effected in their set-up too.”
Kick-off is at 6pm.
