Safpu elections in danger of being nullified

The recently elected South African Football Players Union leadership is in danger of being nullified.

The union's former deputy secretary- general Tlaelo Calvin Motloung has taken Safpu to the labour court as he feels proper channels were not followed at the congress that took place recently.

"Ya we are taking the organisation to court with regards to how they do things in terms of abusing the constitution," Motloung tells KickOff.

"So going to the congress there were a lot of things that happened that were wrong.

"People decide to follow the constitution the way they want it to work in their favour without thinking for the players.

"Football players are being taken for granted, what happened in this congress it was unconstitutional.

"First of all, many players did not know about the congress.

"And I'm not raising those points just because I was not voted, I raised those questions before but I was silenced.

"Yesterday we were in court in Cape Town because that's where the event happened.

"So, the matter was postponed to the 7th of next week. The reason for the postponement was that Safpu filed their document later.

"So, my team and I were asked to respond to those affidavits of Safpu. So we are responding.

"The application was on an urgent basis."

When contacted, Safpu did not respond to this publication's calls and text messages.
