Nazeer Allie says there's no time for fancy football at Maritzburg United

The Team of Choice are preparing to host Bloemfontein Celtic on Friday night at Harry Gwala Stadium, and Allie says their preparations have been going well.

"In the last two weeks we've been preparing very well, we will be treating all our remaining games like finals, starting this Friday against Celtic," he said.

"Looking at our position, we don't need any motivation, we're playing against a side that has been doing well despite off-the-field issues, it won't be easy."

In the first round earlier this season Maritzburg won 1-0 in the Free State, and Allie believes that victory will give them motivation for Friday.

The former Ajax Cape Town City defender also stressed their recent defensive form, which saw them conceding in their last three games against Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu and Mamelodi Sundowns.

"We beat them in the first round but it was an ugly win because most of the time we were defending," Allie explained.

"It does give us a morale-boost but it won't be easy, we have to make sure we defend well as we haven't done that in our last three encounters, we have to improve there.

"As long we win, we're good. There's no time for fancy football, we need points now."
