Milutin Sredojevic provides update on Orlando Pirates new signing Joris Delle

Orlando Pirates coach Milutin Sredojevic has provided an update on the progress of new goalkeeper Joris Delle, who arrived at the club during pre-season.

Delle came in to replace Jackson Mabokgwane, who was released from the club before joining Bloemfontein Celtic, but now has a higher chance of breaking into the team following Brilliant Khuzwayo's forced retirement.

The 29-year-old former France junior international, however, has yet to make his debut for Pirates or feature on the bench for that matter.

With Wayne Sandilands having conceded five goals in the opening three games of the season, many have raised questions as to the readiness of the former Feyenoord shotstopper.

"I need to be sincere, he's coming from a higher level than ours, and his adjustment is much easier. However, the point is that he picked up a hamstring injury, which is what has kept him out of contention," explained Micho, when asked of his adjustment into the team and readiness to play.

"He's still not at his level best because it was an issue of, after training he was working hard in order to do extra things and exactly in the last sprint he was pulling his muscle.

"It is something uncontrollable. If it was with us in training, it would be very much of a concern, but he was training by himself and it was self-inflicted, so we need to be cautious and patient.

"Rushing the player with an injury of such a kind could bring further risk of missing him for a longer period of time."

The Buccaneers will face Highlands Park in their next encounter in the MTN8 at the Orlando Stadium on Saturday evening (18h00).
