Mamelodi Sundowns defender gives back in Mamelodi

Kekana dipped into his own pocket to donate equipment such as tents and chairs with former Banyana Banyana player, Khabo Zitha hosting soccer trials for aspiring girls in the Tshwane region at the HM Pitje Stadium on Saturday.

Zitha has also partnered with #notinmyname to raise awareness of gender-based violence during the same event.

Former Orlando Pirates striker, Thulasizwe Mbuyane and former Banyana Banyana midfielder, Portia Modise were part of the judging panel to oversee the trials.

Zitha has also confirmed that former Ria Stars boss, Ria Ledwaba has donated 50 soccer balls through her foundation Ria Ledwaba foundation towards the initiative.

"I always felt that I needed to do something for the people of Mamelodi.

"This is home and I am back to plough back to my community through this initiative where I hope to select players to be part of my newly formed team Mamelodi Eleven Stars.

"The response has been quite great and the people in Mamelodi are very excited about this initiative.

"We have also invited #notinmyname organization to be part of this event. We have many challenges as women and I felt we need to use this opportunity to raise awareness about gender-based violence.

"I am grateful to Grant Kekana.

"We have always worked together before and this time he donated two tents and chairs for this event.

"Mama Ledwaba through her foundation, Ria Ledwaba Foundation has also donated 50 soccer balls," she added.
