Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs players one yellow card away from suspension

Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns may be squaring off this evening but players from both teams face the risk of missing their next Absa Premiership fixture.

The Soweto giants and the Tshwane giants will come to blows for what is being billed as the fixture of the season thus far, with just three points separating the two sides at the top of the log table.

Plenty rides on this evening's fixture in as far as the title race goes, but there are still three more games to contest before the champions are crowned.

Sundowns, who will be without defender Ricardo Nascimento tonight after he picked up a red card against Maritzburg United last Friday, have one player who will need to tread carefully when they clash with Chiefs at Orlando Stadium (18h00).

The Brazilians will face relegation-threatened Baroka at Dobsonville Stadium on Sunday and defender Wayne Arendse may miss that outing should he pick up another yellow card.

Meanwhile, Amakhosi, who will also go into tonight's encounter without Samir Nurkovic, face another big test against Bidvest Wits at FNB Stadium on the weekend and could lose up to four players for that fixture.

Defensive duo Daniel Cardoso and Erick Mathoho as well as midfield duo Lebogang Manyama and Willard Katsande are all one yellow card away from a one-match ban.
