Ea Lla Koto are currently battling with the unavailability of five players of their key players due to injuries sufferedin the last two weeks.
Strikers Andrea Fileccia and Moeketsi Sekola both suffered setbacks during the 1-0 defeat to Free State rivals Bloemfontein Celtic a fortnight ago.
Sekola suffered a hamstring tear and is expected to be out for another four weeks, whileFileccia has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a serious knee injury.
However, another striker Sthembiso Ngcobo and defenders Davis Nkausu and Themba Shabalala have also joined the list after Stars' suffered a 5-2 hammering at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns last weekend.
Mashego feels luck has desserted them on the injury front, but says they cannot afford to drop their heads as the season enters it's climax.
“We are not having much luck with injuries at the moment,” Mashego tells his club's official website.
“The loss of three more players on Sunday has left us seriously short in both defence and attack.
“But injuries are part of the game, so we just have to accept the situation and move on.
“We can’t afford to feel sorry for ourselves. We need to stay focused and make sure we stay in the top half of the table.”
The 29-year-old also explains what went wrong in their defeat to the Absa Premiership log leaders in their last outing, while also calling on his teammates to bounce back against Jomo Cosmos this weekend.
“Cosmos are at the wrong end of the table, so that makes them a very dangerous opponent because they are desperate for points to move up the table,” Mashego adds.
“It’s not going to be an easy game, but this match is the perfect opportunity for us to bounce back from the Sundowns defeat and come away with all three points.”
