Zinnbauer's 24-year-old son Fabio was involved in a horrific car accident in Nuremburg, Germany in October last year and has been battling for his life in a coma.
The 50-year-old tactician has continually chosen not to divulge more on the situation, though he previously quashed fake reports that his son had passed away back in December.
Nearly two months since, the Pirates mentor has again reiterated his stance but expressed his gratitude and requested continued prayers for a full recovery of Fabio.
"I hope you understand, I will not speak about this in the public. We have to say thank you [that] he's alive and we need more prayers, or the normal prayers that we've had always. But more can I not say. Thank you," said Zinnbauer on Tuesday evening.
The Buccaneers beat Cape Town City 2-0 in a DStv Premiership fixture on Tuesday night to register their seventh league win of the season, moving up to fourth spot on the table with 28 points from 17 games played.
They next turn their attention back to the CAF Confederation Cup, with a test against Jwaneng Galaxy at Botswana National Stadium in Gaborone on Sunday afternoon (15h00 kick-off).
