Free State Stars captain Masehe to return to training on Thursday following a knee injury

The ex-Orlando Pirates midfielder sustained the knock towards the end of last term.

"I am happy to be back after my knee injury," Masehe told his club's website. "I have not started training but have undergone tests. Tomorrow I will start with light jogging and join in with the team later."

The 30-year-old is naturally hopeful Stars can avoid another relegation battle this coming campaign, having secured their survival on the last day of 2013/14.

"Last season’s results were not impressive at all and the aim is to try and prevent that from happening again," he said.

"Personally I feel it is no longer about me and if I want to improve my game. What I want to do is help the other players shine on the field, along with helping the team.

"It will be hard to redeem ourselves as worthy opponents but it is a challenge I am looking forward to."

He added: "What I would like to see is the team winning some silverware. This means we have to push ourselves the extra mile and everyone has to share the same dream."
